Drijvend-Kiezel

Drijvend-Kiezel

History of the Ship
The Drijvend-Kiezel is a dutch ship which left Europe bound for the new world. She wasn’t fast but was build to carry a lot of cargo. However, most of the cargo was only going one way, from the new world to Europe. This made her owner decide to re-configure her hold to carry people on his return trips to the Caribbean. Military personnel, traders, trappers, hunters, politicians, spies, and criminals on the run would all use ships just like this for passage to the new world.

The Last Voyage
Coming into the Caribbean the Drijven-Kiezel was forced to make a turn to the north to avoid a storm. This put her right in the path of a pirate ship. The pirates chased her down. When finding she was carrying only people instead of the expected treasure, the pirates took the people that they felt would be useful and set the others adrift in their ship. No one knew (or so they’ll all tell you) that a fire was still burning and as they sailed away, the Drijven-Kiezel burst in to massive flames and was never seen again.
